Reader Reviews
… Absolutely brilliant, can’t wait for the next one…... I could not put Compulsion down. I really enjoyed it and it was definitely a compulsive read! I love a book that you have to keep close to hand…… I like the way the history steadily unfolds towards the end. A very good read... I’ll recommend it to my book group…… Amazing, couldn’t put it down. When is the sequel, put me down for pre-order. This would make a brilliant TV drama. Thank you for the last four days of complete immersion in a story I loved…… A complex and compelling book with many sad and flawed characters, which merely add to the intrigue. The descriptions created atmosphere, at times I felt I was actually in Amsterdam. The phrase which comes to mind throughout this page-turner is actions have consequences. Highly recommended!…
… A real page-turner. Cracking read and completed over a couple of afternoons in the sun…… This sensational book gripped me straight away, I kept sneaking away to read a few more pages. Drama from the off. Twists and turns were brilliant. This book would make an amazing TV drama…… Highly recommend it. Brilliantly scary stuff...… Brilliant first novel, a real page-turner with excellent characterisation. Not to be missed!…… What a compulsive read! You can’t go wrong with an insane villain such as John Grantham. We weren’t sure what he was going to do next and it kept the pages turning. I loved the details of life in Amsterdam, quite the travel advertisement, hopefully minus the likes of Mr. Grantham! Behind the thrill of the chase was a poignant story of people trying to pick up the threads of their life after heartbreak and grief. Well worth a read!…

Thank you for signing up to my email list. Here's an exclusive free extract from Compulsion to whet your appetite.
The young woman sat down opposite him. The tube train jolted and a waft of musk perfume reached him. She tugged a stray lock of dark brown hair behind her ear and closed her eyes. She’s Libby’s double! But a more mature version. Did she just smile at me?John Grantham’s breathing quickened. His groin stirred. He shuffled in his seat, feeling uncomfortable. He didn’t want to tear his eyes from her face. He studied her feathery eyelashes and cheekbones. Angular, protruding bones. Her skin was pale russet, devoid of makeup. Her lips were deep maroon. The lower lip was plumper, with tiny vertical ridges pointing to the deep crease in her upper lip. He wanted to trace his finger across the lips and then to gently prise them open to explore her teeth. He wanted to see their colour and shape, to touch their ivory polish and to feel the sharpness of their tips. Mentally his fingers moved from her lips to the shadows playing on her neck. Her black leather coat was zipped to just above her breastbone, exposing a pure white embroidered garment which was preventing any glimpse of a cleavage. A necklace dipped into the shadow lying behind the white garment and he needed to know what was at the end of it. Was it her name in silver letters, or perhaps holding a locket with a photo? At that thought he became annoyed. She was his now, they had found each other, anyone else in her life shouldn’t matter. He clenched his fists into tight hard balls. Another jolt of the train heralded the next stop and he was aware of movement around him. The girl, his girl, remained in the same position but the recent influx of passengers also bore a competitor who stood in front of him facing the girl and cutting off his view of her. John Grantham kicked out his long legs and his heavy work boot caught the commuter on his ankle.‘Sorry mate, I have a problem with my legs – they twitch all the time – it comes from crouching under cars all day.’ John smiled apologetically but with tight lips. The commuter looked at the tall, muscular man with the staring eyes and fixed smile and decided to move sideways down the carriage. John saw that the girl’s eyes had opened briefly to witness the incident. They were dark pools with sparkling lights rising from their inner depths. Then her lids closed and he felt alone again. His eyes narrowed as he concentrated on her arms. They had been crossed over her chest but were now open and resting on her lap, as if to protect that mysterious and inviting place. John wanted to share with her the pulsating heat that he was now feeling. But then he realised she would not want to share this intimate moment with the rest of the passengers. They had to be alone together. Him and his girl. His eyes fixed on the hem of her short woollen tartan skirt and his imagination wandered. The girl moved her legs and her red stilettos seemed to be resting against his dirty work-boots. Her aura sucked him into a bubble in which they were the only two people in the carriage. The coughs and noises from the other passengers were distant, so distant. He and his girl were joined together by an electric force. It made his heart palpitate, his breath short and staccato. At the next station the carriage shuddered to a stop and John watched her reaching for her briefcase. As another whiff of her musky perfume reached him he brushed back his black wavy hair, hoping it would show her his blue eyes. His wife had always said they were his best feature, and John was disappointed when the girl didn’t notice. With an elegant slide she moved quickly down the carriage and he had to push past people to reach the door before it closed on him. She had not glanced back but John knew she was still in the bubble, inexorably joined to him. Fate had done this. Fate had found her, fate had joined them.Outside it had started raining, but the girl was well equipped for it and her bright red umbrella was a wonderful beacon for John to follow. He knew she wouldn’t want people to know of their commitment to each other so he followed a little way behind. He was patient now. He knew he would shortly have her to himself…
